In its latest weather forecast issued at 4.00 p.m. on May 14, the department stated that the system is expected to gradually move away from Sri Lanka within the next 48 hours based on current weather analysis.

Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura, Galle and Matara districts.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm is likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Puttalam, Galle and Matara districts.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may develop in parts of the Uva and Eastern provinces after 1.00 p.m.
