Police said the suspect was arrested last night (13) in the Sri Bodhi Road area in Gampaha following a special operation carried out based on information obtained from suspects currently under remand custody.
Ganemulla Sanjeewa was shot dead on February 19, 2025, inside the Colombo No. 05 Magistrate’s Court by a person disguised as a lawyer while he was being produced before court by prison officials.
Investigations have revealed that the murder plot had been orchestrated in collaboration with organized criminals operating overseas and that the suspect had allegedly provided the firearms used in the crime.
Police also recovered a foreign-made repeater-type firearm, 10 live cartridges and two empty cartridges from the suspect at the time of arrest.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Colombo District Crime Division.
