In Ahangama, a motorcycle travelling from Imaduwa towards Ahangama had reportedly lost control and crashed into an electric pole near the Katugahawatta junction on the Ahangama–Imaduwa road yesterday morning.
The rider sustained serious injuries and died after being admitted to the Gonnagahahena Hospital. The deceased was identified as a 25-year-old resident of Piyadigama, Ahangama.
Meanwhile, in Thirukkovil, a motorcycle travelling towards Thirukkovil had reportedly lost control and overturned near the Korakalapuwa tank on the Thirukkovil–Pottuvil road yesterday morning.
The rider, a 42-year-old resident of the Thirukkovil area, sustained critical injuries and was admitted to the Thirukkovil Hospital before being transferred to the Akkarapattu Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a lorry in the Kanduwatta area on the Rathupaswala–Henegama road within the Weliweriya Police Division yesterday evening.
Police said the motorcycle, travelling from Henegama towards Rathupaswala, had lost control and overturned before colliding with an oncoming lorry.
The rider died on the spot after being run over by the lorry, while the pillion rider sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Gampaha Hospital.
The deceased was identified as a 24-year-old resident of Weliweriya West. The lorry driver has been arrested in connection with the incident, and further investigations are being conducted by the Weliweriya Police.
Meanwhile, in Pitigala, a motorcycle travelling from Pelawatta towards Pitigala had reportedly lost control and crashed into a culvert in the Boraluhena area on the Pitigala–Pelawatta road yesterday morning.
The rider sustained serious injuries and died after being admitted to the Elpitiya Hospital.
The deceased was identified as a 21-year-old resident of Pathtarahena, Pitigala.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Pitigala Police.
