According to reports, the recommendation was officially conveyed to the National Police Commission yesterday (13). The tribunal has also instructed relevant authorities to settle all outstanding salary arrears and allowances owed to Abeysekara from the date of his suspension from service.
Abeysekara was arrested in July 2020 and remained in remand custody for nearly 11 months before being granted bail by the Court of Appeal.
He was later reinstated to the Sri Lanka Police in 2024 under the provisions of Circular 3/2018 and subsequently appointed as the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
