She made these remarks while addressing the official ceremony held today (13) at Sudampaya, Anamaduwa, to present the Sannas Patra conferring the title of Chief Sanghanayaka of the Rajavanni and Kumaravanni provinces on Venerable Dharmakeerthi Sri Pangnananda Nayaka Thero.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Most Venerable Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thero, Anunayaka Thero of the Malwathu Chapter. During the event, the Prime Minister formally handed over the official declaration appointing the Nayaka Thero to the new position, while Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa presented the ceremonial Vijinipatha.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the government’s vision of leading the country towards “a new era of renaissance” founded on compassion and solidarity requires the guidance and blessings of religious leaders.
The event was attended by members of the Maha Sangha representing the three Nikayas, clergy of other religions, Governor of the North Western Province, Minister Chandana Abayarathna, Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara, Members of Parliament, government officials, and devotees.
