The US President was received with a formal arrival ceremony marked by elaborate ceremonial displays, reflecting the significance of the visit and the diplomatic tone both sides are expected to maintain during the discussions.
China assigned Vice President Han Zheng to lead the official welcome delegation. Han, a senior political figure and former member of the Communist Party’s top decision-making body, has frequently represented China in key diplomatic engagements and previously attended Trump’s presidential inauguration.
The arrival ceremony also included senior diplomatic representatives, including US Ambassador to China David Perdue, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng, and China’s Executive Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, according to White House sources.
Adding to the ceremonial welcome, around 300 Chinese youths in coordinated uniforms lined the tarmac waving national flags, accompanied by a military honor guard and band.
President Xi Jinping is expected to formally welcome President Trump on Thursday morning local time, ahead of the scheduled talks aimed at addressing key bilateral and global issues.
