The suspect had arrived at the airport from Bangkok, Thailand, on Thai Airways flight TG-307 at around 12.30 a.m. on May 13.

According to Customs officials, the narcotics—totalling 4 kilograms and 389 grams of “Kush”—were discovered concealed in two pieces of luggage, divided and packed into four separate packets.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the passenger had attempted to pass through the Green Channel, which is designated for travellers with nothing to declare upon arrival.

The arrested individual, along with the seized narcotics, has been handed over to officers of the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau at Katunayake for further investigations.
