The web portal has been created to bring together former Mahapola scholarship recipients and current beneficiaries into a single network aimed at strengthening professional and educational connections.
According to officials, the platform is expected to provide career guidance, employment opportunities, scholarships for needy students and wider support services for Mahapola beneficiaries.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister said thousands of Mahapola scholarship recipients are currently serving in various professional sectors around the world and that the new platform would help connect their experiences and expertise to support future generations.
She noted that the initiative goes beyond providing financial assistance and seeks to address broader educational and professional needs of students.
The Prime Minister also urged students not to view the scholarship as a personal benefit alone, but as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the country and society through higher education and professional success.
During the event, the Prime Minister also presented scholarships to a group of university students affected by the Ditwa disaster.
Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe, Deputy Minister R. M. Jayawardena, MPs, university academics and other officials were also present at the ceremony.
