The incident reportedly occurred around 8.30 p.m. on the 4th near the Dambala Junction in Paragoda, Bulathsinhala.
The victim, identified as Madawala Maddumaage Saminda Mahesh (43), a resident of Paragoda, sustained serious injuries in the attack. He was first admitted to Pimbura Base Hospital and later transferred to Nagoda Teaching Hospital, Kalutara, before being moved to the National Hospital of Colombo for further treatment.
Police said inquiries are being carried out under the supervision of Bulathsinhala Police Officer-in-Charge Chief Inspector I.N.S. Kasthuriarachchi, while efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
