The ceremony commenced at the auspicious time of 6:55 a.m. under the patronage of the President. It was conducted with the guidance and blessings of senior Buddhist clergy, including the Anunayake of the Malwathu Chapter of the Siam Nikaya, Venerable Dimbulkumbura Sri Saranankara Wimaladharma Mahanayake Thero, and the Anunayake of the Asgiri Chapter, Venerable Wedaruwe Upali Mahanayake Thero.
Organized jointly by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media and the Department of Cultural Affairs, the event was attended by members of the Maha Sangha and several government representatives. Among those present were Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Deputy Minister of Buddhasasana and Cultural Affairs Gamagedara Dissanayake, Deputy Minister of Transport Dr. Prasanna Gunasena, and Members of Parliament Thanura Dissanayake and Thushari Jayasinghe.
The Governor of the Central Province, Professor S. B. S. Abayakoon, along with the Basnayake Nilame of the Natha Devalaya and senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, also participated in the ceremony.
The State Oil Anointing Ceremony is a significant cultural and religious ritual performed annually during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, symbolizing blessings for health, prosperity, and well-being for the people of Sri Lanka.
