Director of the DMC, Pradeep Kodippili, stated that there is no tsunami threat or impact to Sri Lanka following the seismic event.

A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale was reported in eastern Indonesia earlier today. The tremor prompted tsunami warnings for regions located within a 1,000-kilometre radius of the epicenter.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii also issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake.

However, Sri Lankan authorities have assured that the country remains safe, with no risk of tsunami effects from the incident.
