According to the CAA, the trader had been keeping stocks of Keeri Samba rice but refused to sell them, falsely informing customers that the item was unavailable. The case has been filed under Section 16(a) of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, which prohibits traders from withholding goods that are available for sale.

During the raid, officials seized 224 packets of Keeri Samba rice, each weighing 5 kilograms, amounting to a total of 1,120 kilograms. The seized stock was produced before the court as evidence.

Authorities stated that strict legal action will be taken against traders who attempt to create artificial shortages of essential goods and inconvenience consumers.
