The decision aims to maintain classroom sizes within the approved limits while simplifying and streamlining the existing school admission procedures.
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education had earlier issued Circular No. 27/2025 dated September 9, 2025, outlining updated admission guidelines. However, authorities identified several practical challenges in implementing the circular, prompting the need for revised instructions.
The new circulars are expected to address these issues without affecting the amendments already introduced under the previous guidelines.
According to the Government, the move follows a proposal submitted by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education. Cabinet approval has now been granted to implement the revised circular instructions with effect from 2026 onwards.
Officials noted that the updated framework is intended to ensure a more efficient, transparent, and equitable student admission process across schools.
