According to the Bureau, a total of 5,938 beneficiaries received assistance through various welfare initiatives implemented during this period.
Officials noted that migrant workers who register with the Bureau prior to leaving for overseas employment are entitled to free insurance coverage. Under this scheme, benefits amounting to Rs. 39.76 million have been provided to 116 migrant workers so far this year.
The Bureau has also continued its programme to provide school equipment to the children of migrant workers. During the first two months of 2026, school supplies worth Rs. 55.63 million were distributed among 5,774 children.
In addition, financial assistance amounting to Rs. 660,000 was provided to 34 children with special needs, while Rs. 248,000 was granted as medical assistance to 14 migrant workers and their family members.
The Bureau stated that it is implementing several special programmes aimed at improving the welfare of migrant workers, who contribute significantly to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
Meanwhile, the Bureau has also taken steps to increase the compensation paid to the family members of migrant workers in the event of a worker’s death. Accordingly, the compensation amount has been raised from Rs. 600,000 to Rs. 2,000,000.
