Speaking at a media briefing today (12), the Chairman of the National Transport Commission Engineer P. A. Chandrapala and Planning Director Aloka Karunaratne stated that several steps are already underway to improve the quality and efficiency of the service.
They noted that efforts are being made to remove legal obstacles that currently prevent the proper standardization of private school transport services.
Accordingly, new legal and policy frameworks are being drafted regarding the quality of vehicles used for school transport, the experience of drivers, and the qualifications of driver assistants, officials said.
