According to reports, the suspects have been contacting tourist hotels and private institutions in Colombo via telephone, falsely identifying themselves as high-ranking police officials. They have allegedly attempted to obtain food supplies and money by claiming the items were needed for official events.
Police stated that investigations into the incidents are already underway.
Emphasizing that these acts are being carried out by individuals or organized groups with fraudulent intent, authorities urged hotel operators, business establishments and the general public not to be misled by such claims.
Anyone with information regarding these scams is requested to inform the nearest police station or contact the relevant telephone numbers provided by the Police.
