According to the Police, during the raids, authorities seized 23 laptops, 11 mobile phones, 7 routers, 9 voice converters, and 3,280 foreign cigarettes.
The suspects had temporarily resided at properties on Jawatta Road, Colombo 05, and Don Carolis Road. Acting on a tip, a team led by the Crimes Division OIC conducted the operation.
Investigations revealed that the suspects maintained connections with foreign countries while living in Sri Lanka and had been deceiving individuals through pyramid schemes. The arrested individuals were also found in possession of duty-free cigarettes imported into the country.
Police said that further investigations are ongoing to identify other possible accomplices and victims of the scam.
