SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has commenced his United Kingdom visit with a series of community and cultural activities, including paying respects at the London Buddhist Vihara, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. He also received blessings from members of the Maha Sangha, his office said.

Although his scheduled address at the Cambridge Union was cancelled due to security concerns amid planned protests, Rajapaksa’s address at the Oxford Union and several meetings with the Sri Lankan diaspora in the UK are expected to proceed as planned.

He is accompanied by SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam and party activist Milinda Rajapaksa, emphasizing the visit’s focus on strengthening ties with Sri Lankans abroad and promoting cultural outreach.
