Speaking at the launch of the QS-accredited Chartered Qualification in Human Resource Management (CQHRM) organised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka at Cinnamon Life Colombo, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of creating multiple entry points into professional and vocational education.
“This is of crucial importance to us in broadening our educational pathways and opportunities. We need to increase access to education that is globally recognised and that offers multiple pathways in professional and vocational fields,” she said.
Dr. Amarasuriya noted that the Government’s reform agenda supports lifelong learning models where individuals can work and study simultaneously, ensuring that education is not restricted by age.
She further stressed the role of human resource leadership in advancing equity and inclusion in workplaces, including fair recruitment practices, safe working environments, leadership opportunities for women, and inclusive policies for persons with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals.
Addressing the future of work, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to prepare for rapid technological change, particularly the growing impact of artificial intelligence on workforce management, urging institutions to proactively adapt to evolving industry demands.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe and other invited guests.
