The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on 16 February 2026.
In terms of Section 5.1 of the Gazette Extraordinary No. 2474/19 issued on 02 February 2026, applications were called for the recruitment of teachers to Sinhala, Tamil and English medium vacancies in national and provincial schools across the island.
Following the Cabinet approval, the date of completion of the required degree qualification has been amended to 05 March 2026.
Accordingly, the relevant Gazette Notification will be revised to reflect the change.
