The letter of appointment was handed over to him this morning (16) by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat.
A Special Grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, Chandrakeerthi brings 26 years of experience in the public service. He joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service on February 15, 2000, was promoted to Grade I in 2010, and elevated to Special Grade in 2019.
He began his administrative career as Assistant Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Tourism of the Uva Provincial Council in 2001 and later served as Assistant Divisional Secretary of Biyagama in 2003.
In 2006, he was appointed Assistant Secretary to the Office of the Leader of the House of Parliament and was promoted to Senior Assistant Secretary in 2010, serving in that capacity until 2015.
Chandrakeerthi subsequently served as Director General of the Department of Coastal Conservation from April 2015 to October 2020. He then held the post of Commissioner General of Labour from October 2020 to December 2023.
In January 2024, he was appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife, Forest Resources, Water Supply, Plantations and Community Infrastructure. From November 2024, he also served as Secretary to the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure.
