More than 8,000 certified birth, marriage and death certificates have been issued through Sri Lanka’s foreign missions within one year of the full implementation of the e-BMD platform.
The system enables citizens residing overseas to obtain official documents directly through embassies and high commissions, eliminating the need to travel to Sri Lanka or depend on lengthy manual procedures.
Officials say the strong uptake reflects growing trust among expatriate Sri Lankans and highlights the efficiency of the digitised service framework.
