The suspect, a resident of Ratmalana, was initially arrested for the possession of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice’. She was subsequently detained and questioned under a detention order as part of ongoing investigations.
Based on information obtained during questioning, police officers last evening carried out a raid at a house on Pirivena Road, Mount Lavinia.
During the operation, officers seized 10 grams and 260 milligrams of ‘Ice’, Rs. 800,000 in cash, a firearm along with one live round of ammunition, eight forged number plates for motorcycles, four forged number plates for three-wheelers and eighteen forged number plates for cars. An electronic weighing scale, two gold chains, a gold bangle and a gold ring were also taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had allegedly received the items from an organized gang member involved in narcotics trafficking.
