President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said Sri Lanka is pursuing an independent foreign policy that is not aligned with any side, in order to safeguard national stability amid global conflicts.
Speaking in Nuwara Eliya, the President noted that although the world may appear peaceful, underlying conflicts over markets and power continue to shape international relations. In this context, he said Sri Lanka’s non-aligned foreign policy is essential for protecting national interests.
He stressed that rebuilding the country requires not only economic strength but also a balanced and principled foreign policy that avoids entanglement in global power struggles while maintaining constructive international relations.
