The Ministry of Education announced that all schools across the country will reopen today (05) for the first phase of the first term of the 2026 academic year.
Accordingly, government schools, government-approved private schools, and pirivenas will resume academic activities from today, the Ministry said.
The first term of the 2026 academic year is being implemented in line with a circular issued on the 9th of last month.
Meanwhile, due to recent adverse weather conditions, the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination could not be completed as scheduled. The remaining subjects of the examination are scheduled to be held from the 12th to the 20th of this month, the Ministry further stated.
