A shocking tragedy unfolded in the Yahalatenna area as the bodies of the Opposition Leader of the Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha, his wife, and their teenage daughter were discovered at their residence, police confirmed.
According to the police, the 52-year-old Opposition Leader had allegedly taken his own life by hanging. Meanwhile, the bodies of his 44-year-old wife and 17-year-old daughter were also found inside a room of the house under suspicious circumstances.
The incident came to light earlier today (29), prompting a swift response from the Peradeniya Police, who have since launched a full-scale investigation into the matter to determine the sequence of events and the motive behind the tragedy.
