Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, has reiterated the importance of protecting the traditional family structure, voicing strong opposition to the concept of same-sex marriage.
Delivering a sermon at St. Anne’s Church in Beruwala, Cardinal Ranjith expressed concern over the growing influence of foreign ideologies on Sri Lankan society.
He warned that the younger generation is being misled by various forms of propaganda, which offer superficial solutions without understanding the true meaning of marriage.
The Cardinal emphasized that a stable family can only be built on the foundation of a union between a man and a woman. He further stated that certain international organizations are actively promoting same-sex marriage, especially among the youth, which he described as a harmful trend.
Reiterating his long-held position, the Archbishop called on Sri Lankans to preserve traditional marriage values and reject ideologies that could erode the moral and cultural fabric of society.
