An Air India flight arriving from Kochi faced a tense moment at Mumbai airport on Monday after veering off the runway while landing in heavy rain. The aircraft, operating as flight AI2744, experienced a runway excursion shortly after touchdown but managed to land safely.
According to the airline, all passengers and crew on board disembarked without any injuries. The incident occurred due to slippery conditions caused by intense rainfall.
Flight AI2744, operating from Kochi to Mumbai on 21 July 2025, experienced heavy rain during landing, resulting in a runway excursion after touchdown. The aircraft taxied safely to the gate and all passengers and crew members have since disembarked. The aircraft has been grounded for checks. The safety of passengers and crew remain our top priority,'' Air India spokesperson said.
Operations at the airport continued as normal, although officials are keeping a close watch on weather conditions.
