
UNOPS Team Meets Minister Of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa

The event was led by Charles Calanan, Director of the UNOPS South Asia Multi-Country Office, along with several key representatives from both UNOPS and the Ministry of Health.
The focus of the discussion was on advancing the digitization of Sri Lanka's healthcare system and improving the pharmaceutical supply chain. Strengthening these areas is seen as essential to making the country’s healthcare system more efficient, reliable, and accessible for patients nationwide. Future projects and collaborations aimed at improving health service delivery were also explored.
The UNOPS team included notable figures such as Anna Yoo Gyoung Kim, Partnerships Specialist – Liaison, Gayan L. Manorathna, Infrastructure and Project Management Manager, and Mike Barthelot, Logistics Officer/Project Manager. The Ministry of Health was represented by Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa, along with other senior officers and officials from both sides.
Minister Dr. Jayathissa emphasized the importance of these collaborations, stating that the support from UNOPS would play a pivotal role in ensuring a more sustainable and effective healthcare system for Sri Lanka. The ongoing partnership is expected to lead to significant advancements in healthcare technology, supply chain management, and overall system reliability.
Both teams expressed their commitment to continuing the important work in order to ensure the healthcare system in Sri Lanka meets the needs of the population efficiently and sustainably.
