Government's Commitment to Justice for All, Says Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at Court of Appeal Inauguration.

She made these remarks at a ceremony held today to mark the inauguration of the newly renovated Court of Appeal building, generously donated by the People's Republic of China.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Amarasuriya stated that the investment in the country's judicial system symbolizes a deep commitment to upholding justice, fairness, equality, and the dignity of the law. She highlighted that the renovated building stands as a powerful symbol of the government's resolve to correct past injustices and ensure equitable access to justice for every citizen.

"Our country has endured decades of hardship as many were denied justice due to systems of privilege and patronage. Our goal is to rectify these wrongs, ensuring that every individual—regardless of their background—has access to fair and impartial justice," Prime Minister Amarasuriya said.
She emphasized the importance of confidence in the judicial system, urging that judges exercise their legal powers fairly and impartially, as granted by the Constitution. The Prime Minister also noted that justice must be accessible to all, including women, children, and the disabled community, ensuring that no one faces undue hardship in the pursuit of their rights.
Acknowledging the enduring struggles of many individuals seeking justice, the Prime Minister stressed the need for respect and protection for all parties involved in legal processes, ensuring that they are not intimidated or harassed while pursuing justice.
Dr. Amarasuriya concluded by expressing gratitude to the People's Republic of China for their generous contribution, which will play a crucial role in enhancing access to justice for the people of Sri Lanka.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, Chief Justice Murdu Fernando, and other notable figures.
