The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved a significant reduction in electricity tariffs, cutting rates by an average of 20% for the next six months.

This tariff adjustment comes as a relief to consumers across the island, following discussions aimed at easing the financial burden of high electricity costs.

The revised rates will apply to both residential and commercial users, with the goal of providing economic relief while maintaining the sustainability of the national power sector.

Mr.Herath confirmed that the new tariff structure will be in place for the next six months, after which further reviews will be conducted.

The PUCSL's decision is expected to have a positive impact on household budgets and businesses, potentially stimulating economic activity while helping to reduce the overall cost of living for Sri Lankans.
