Govt Commences Plans to Prepare National Policy on AI

The government has officially initiated the process of gathering public opinions to help shape the country's national policy on artificial intelligence (AI). Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eranga Weeraratne, announced that the deadline for submitting opinions is set for March 14th.
Mr.Weeraratne emphasized that the input from the public will play a crucial role in crafting a comprehensive AI policy that aligns with national interests and future technological advancements. Following this feedback process, a committee tasked with formulating the policy will compile the final draft.
The move underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that AI development is guided by inclusive and well-rounded perspectives.
