Dr. Harini Amarasuriya officially took office this afternoon

In her first remarks after the swearing-in, Dr. Amarasuriya expressed her commitment to steering the country toward stability and progress, focusing on economic recovery, social justice, and enhancing democratic governance.

Dr. Amarasuriya’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Sri Lanka's political landscape as she becomes the first woman to hold the office of Prime Minister in the country's history.

The Prime Minister’s Media Division has confirmed that Dr. Amarasuriya has already begun engaging with key stakeholders to address pressing national issues and lay out a clear roadmap for the government’s priorities in the coming weeks.
