In a statement, Archdiocese Media Spokesperson Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando described the allegations as completely false and baseless, noting that similar claims had already been denied in 2020. He said the accusations currently circulating online stem from remarks made before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter attacks and were previously addressed by Church authorities.
The Church also dismissed assertions that security agencies had shared advance intelligence about the attacks with the Cardinal, stressing that no such information had been communicated to him. Church officials said claims suggesting otherwise are misleading and unsupported by facts.
Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando further urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information circulating on social media, warning that the spread of false claims could undermine ongoing efforts to uncover the truth behind the Easter Sunday attacks.
