He said the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission and all telecommunication service providers are working tirelessly to bring connectivity back to normal.
According to the Deputy Minister, landslides and flooding had disrupted provincial fibre connections at 11 locations. With direct intervention from the Ministry, services at nine of these points were restored within 24 hours. All provincial connections are now operational, and where intermediate points remain affected, services are being routed through alternative fibre paths to ensure continuity.
He further stated that more than 4,000 main transmission towers became inactive due to power failures and damage caused by floods and landslides. Of these, around 2,800 towers have already been restored, while 949 remain inactive mainly because of power outages. Telecommunication providers, he said, are working closely with the relevant authorities to bring these towers back online as quickly as possible. The Tri-Forces are also supporting the restoration efforts by helping teams reach towers in difficult locations and providing necessary power support.
