Agriculture Minister K.D. Lalkantha has assured that necessary steps will be taken to manage wild animals that cause damage to crops, following the results of a recent census. The report, which focuses on species such as snakes, monkeys, peacocks, and hawks, is expected to be released tomorrow, March 28.
Minister Lalkantha made these remarks during a press conference held in the Kandy area, where he emphasized the importance of understanding the scope of the issue before implementing targeted management strategies.
The upcoming report is anticipated to provide valuable insights into the extent of crop damage caused by these wild animals, paving the way for informed action.
"We are committed to addressing the concerns of farmers and finding effective solutions to mitigate the damage caused by these animals," the Minister said.
The census findings will play a crucial role in shaping future agricultural policies aimed at balancing wildlife conservation and protecting farmers' livelihoods.
