Ms. Nadeeka Wataliyadda officially commenced her duties as the new Commissioner General of Labour at the Labour Department, located at the Mehwara Piyasa Building in Narahenpita.
Ms. Wataliyadda, who joined the public service as a labor officer in 2001, became a member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 2003. Over the years, she has served in several significant roles, including Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Immigration and Emigration and Director General of the National Institute of Labour Studies.
Her appointment marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the third woman to hold the esteemed position of Commissioner General of Labour.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe, who extended his congratulations and support to Ms. Wataliyadda as she begins her new role.
With her vast experience and dedication to public service, Ms. Wataliyadda is poised to make valuable contributions to the Labour Department in her new capacity.
