The Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for today, forecasting showers or thundershowers to occur at several locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, North-Western, and Uva provinces after 2:00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers, exceeding 50 mm, are expected at certain places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces.
Additionally, a few showers may also affect the Eastern province and Polonnaruwa district. Misty conditions are anticipated in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
The general public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage from localized strong winds and lightning, which may accompany the thundershowers. Safety measures should be followed, especially in areas prone to sudden weather changes.

Condition of Rain:
Showers or thundershowers are expected in a few places across the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa. During the evening or night, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Mannar, including Galle, Colombo, and Puttalam.
Winds:
The winds will be North-easterly or variable, with speeds ranging from 20 to 30 km/h.
State of Sea:
The sea areas around the island will remain slight to moderate. However, temporary strong gusty winds and very rough seas are expected during thundershowers.
Public Advisory:
Mariners and fishermen are advised to exercise caution, especially during periods of thundershowers when winds may become strong and seas may turn rough.
