A leak has been reported in a pipeline transporting fuel from the Colombo Port to the Kolonnawa storage facility. The incident occurred while a ship was unloading petrol at the port last night.
D. A. Rajakaruna, the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), confirmed the leak and assured the public that the fuel unloading process was not disrupted as a result of the incident.
"We took immediate steps to address the situation, and there is no impact on the fuel supply or the unloading operations," Rajakaruna said. He emphasized that the CPC is monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety of the operation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the leak, and steps are being taken to contain any potential environmental impact. No injuries have been reported.
The CPC continues to reassure the public that fuel supplies remain stable, and there will be no immediate disruptions to the distribution network.
