Police authorities have been unable to locate former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, despite a court order issued 15 days ago for his arrest in connection with a shooting incident that occurred outside a hotel in the Weligama area of Matara.

The Matara Magistrate's Court had ordered the arrest and production of eight individuals, including Tennakoon, in relation to the shooting that took place on February 28. While his wife and son have returned to their residence, police were able to record a statement from the wife but were unsuccessful in obtaining any information about the whereabouts of Deshabandu Tennakoon.

Authorities have been investigating the case thoroughly, but no leads have surfaced that would bring them closer to locating the former IGP. The investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing their efforts to execute the court's order.

The public and the media await further updates as law enforcement continues its search for Deshabandu Tennakoon in connection with the incident that has sparked widespread attention.
