Sri Lanka Railways has announced the operation of four special trains in conjunction with the upcoming school vacation and Sri Pada pilgrimage season. The special trains will run between Colombo Fort and Badulla, as well as Colombo Fort and Kankesanturai (KKS), starting from Wednesday, March 12.

The special train schedule is as follows:

  • The first train will depart from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30 PM on March 12, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, and 31.
  • The second train will leave from Badulla at 5:20 PM on March 12, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, and 31.
  • The third train will run daily from Colombo Fort to KKS, departing at 5:30 AM from March 13 to 31.
  • The fourth train will depart from KKS at 1:50 PM daily, from March 13 to 31.

These additional services are aimed at accommodating the increased demand during the school holidays and the peak pilgrimage season, ensuring convenient travel for pilgrims and holidaymakers.
