Major General (Retired) Sampath Kotuwegoda has been appointed as the new Director General of the Disaster Management Center (DMC), a key government agency responsible for coordinating disaster response and preparedness in Sri Lanka.

With an extensive military background and years of experience in leadership, Major General Kotuwegoda brings a wealth of knowledge in crisis management and strategic planning to the role. His appointment is expected to strengthen the country's disaster response systems and enhance its preparedness in the face of natural calamities.

The Disaster Management Center plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the public during emergencies, and under the leadership of Major General Kotuwegoda, it is anticipated that the agency will continue to evolve and improve its operations, making Sri Lanka more resilient to disasters.
