Two retired Army Intelligence officers have been arrested in connection with the 2008 kidnapping and assault of journalist Keith Noyar. The arrests were made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the Nawagaththegama and Elayapattu areas.

The incident, which took place on May 22, 2008, saw Noyar abducted from a van and brutally assaulted in the Waidya Road area of Dehiwala. Following the attack, extensive investigations were carried out by the CID, which ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

The two arrested men, aged 42 and 46, are both former officers of the Army Intelligence Unit. They hail from the Nawagaththegama and Ulukkulama areas. According to police sources, the CID is continuing with further investigations into the matter to uncover more details surrounding the attack.

The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in a case that had remained unresolved for years, raising hopes for justice for the assaulted journalist.
