Three individuals, including a father and his two children, were killed in a shooting near Kadewatta Junction in Middeniya. Police have arrested three suspects, including a police constable, in connection with the deadly attack.
The victims – a father, his six-year-old daughter, and nine-year-old son – were traveling on a motorcycle when gunmen opened fire, killing the father on the spot. His children sustained critical injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. The daughter, who was admitted to Tangalle Hospital, tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after treatment. The son, who had been receiving treatment at Embilipitiya Hospital, passed away the following day.
