The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for today, February 18, 2025. Showers and thundershowers are expected to occur at several locations across the Galle, Matara, Kalutara, and Ratnapura districts during the evening and night. A few showers may also affect the Uva Province, as well as Ampara and Hambantota districts.
Meanwhile, dry weather is forecast to prevail over most other parts of the island.
In the early morning hours, cold weather is anticipated in the Northern, North-Central provinces, and Trincomalee district.
Misty conditions are expected to impact some areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, along with Galle, Matara, and Badulla districts during the morning.
The general public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize the risks associated with temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
