Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Asanka Karawita has been appointed to lead the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), effective February 12, 2025, according to an announcement from the Police Media Division.
This significant appointment places SDIG Karawita in charge of two of the most vital units within the Sri Lanka Police, which handle major criminal investigations and financial crimes respectively.
Meanwhile, in other transfers within the police force, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) P. Liyanage has been assigned as the DIG in charge of the Western Province (North). Additionally, DIG M. D. P. Dayarathne has been transferred to take on responsibilities at the FCID.
These appointments reflect ongoing efforts to enhance the police force's capacity to handle criminal investigations and financial crimes, ensuring greater efficiency and security.
