The Meteorology Department has announced that fair weather will prevail across most parts of Sri Lanka today, with the possibility of ground frost in certain areas of the Nuwara-Eliya district during the early hours of the morning.

Misty conditions are expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Badulla, and Kurunegala districts.

Sea Conditions: Fair weather is expected over the sea areas around the island. Winds will be north-easterly, with speeds ranging from 30-40 km/h. However, wind speeds may increase up to 50 km/h in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

State of the Sea: The sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota, will be fairly rough at times.

The public is advised to remain cautious of misty conditions and potential frost in the early morning. Fishermen and those at sea are urged to be aware of the changing sea conditions.
