Sri Lanka's Police have successfully apprehended over 4,000 individuals during a 13-day special crime prevention operation launched on January 12. The initiative, which involved roadblocks across the country, focused on inspecting suspicious individuals and vehicles.

According to Police Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga, the operation led to the capture of 249 individuals evading the law and 4,020 individuals who were subject to arrest warrants. The crackdown aimed at reducing crime and ensuring public safety.

Additionally, SSP Manatunga revealed that the police had successfully repatriated four notorious underworld criminals who were operating abroad. These individuals were brought back to Sri Lanka under the Extradition Law to face justice for their crimes.

The 13-day program highlights the police's ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain law and order across the nation.
