The Thannekumbura - Rikillagaskada - Ragala road section has been temporarily closed due to a landslide, and authorities have advised the public to seek alternative routes. The closure will remain in effect until further notice.
Motorists traveling from Kandy to Walapane are advised to take a detour. Vehicles can travel from the Thannekumbura junction along the Thannekumbura – Rikillagaskada – Ragala (B-413) road, then turn at the 20 km mark onto the Kandehandiya – Adikarigama – Randenigala – Loggaloya (B-492) road. From there, continue to the 26th km mark on the Keerthibandarapura, Naranthalawa road (B-511) towards Walapane, Ragala, and Nuwara Eliya.
For light vehicles traveling from Rikillagaskada towards Ragala and Nuwara Eliya, an alternative route is available. Vehicles can travel south from Padiyapelella town on the Thannekumbura - Rikillagaskada - Ragala (B-413) road and proceed via Mathura and High Forest (C-411) to reach Ragala and Nuwara Eliya.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution and adhere to all road safety instructions during this period.
