In the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with the Kurunegala district, showers or thundershowers are likely in the evening or night, with some areas potentially experiencing fairly heavy rainfall of up to 50 mm.
The Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for several areas across Sri Lanka.
Showers and thundershowers are expected in the Uva and Southern provinces, as well as in Ampara, Batticaloa, Matale, and Nuwara-Eliya districts. A few showers may also occur in the Northern and North-Central provinces and Trincomalee district.
Fairly strong winds, ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, are anticipated at times over the Eastern slope of the central hills, as well as the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, including the Matale district.
Misty conditions are expected to prevail during the morning in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Badulla district.
The general public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from localized strong winds and lightning during the thundershowers.
